11학년에 올라와서도 하려고 합니다.
그런데 11학년 스케쥴에 IB 클라스가 있어서
저는 이 공부를 하고 싶지 않기에
스케쥴을 바꿨는데, 옳은 선택인지 모르겠습니다. 대학진로에 대한 도움이 필요합니다.

들은 바에 의하면 IB class를 들을수 있다는것 자체가 영광이고 기회라 들을수 있으면 좋다고 합니다.
IB class를 들으면 GPA를 올리는데 도움이 좀 될 것 같기도 합니다. College Entrance를 위해서 GPA 가 중요한 요소 중의 하나이니까요. 만점이 다르기 때문에….예하면, 그냥 science 가 4점 만점이라면 ib science 는 5점 만점이라서 …gpa에 영향을 주기는 합니다. 대신 난이도가 좀 있어서 점수 받기가 약간 더 어려울 수 있기도 하겠죠.
우리 아이가 다니는 텍사스의 independent school district 에는 ib course 가 개설 안되어 있는데,
같은 history 과목이라도 그냥 history (4점 만점), advanced history (5점 만점), 그리고 ap history (6점 만점) 세가지가 있는데, 정말 학점에 욕심이 있으면 6점 만점 짜리를 듣는 것이 좀 유리할 수 있지요.
4점 만점 5점 만점은 아마 학교마다 grading scale이 달라서 다를 수 있지만, 아무리 열심히 해서 100점 (A)를 받아도 일반 수업을 들으면 4점이지만, IB 수업을 들어서 83점(B)를 받아도 4.15로 점수가 GPA 상에서 더 높아질 수 있지요.
